Should potential employers ask about your previous salaries ??

This is a 50/50 matter…. should you be asked this in an interview? 

Some would say YES!!! This could benefit the interviewees as they can demonstrate their worth and capability’s, this could  only really be the case if they previously had good jobs with a good salary to match. 

On the flip side – could this not also show that the interviewees are demonstrating that their ambitious and looking to moving up the career ladder is the previous salary is poor? 

I also understand why people would say NO!! – you would feel uncomfortable discussing the matter with someone in a situation that is not a confirmed situation – if you don’t have the job your being interviewed for then why be asked such a personal question?
